As part of this year’s conference platform at SXSW in Austin, Texas, a panel of speakers will be debating the subject of ethical fashion in the luxury market, focusing on the positive achievements of players across the industry from retailers to brands and non-profits.
And among the panelists taking part in the hour-long event on 11th March will be Hassan Pierre, co-founder of Carmen-backed Maison-De-Mode.Com. Specializing in unique ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, accessories and home goods, this luxury ethical retailer carefully selects products that adhere to standards determined by a set of ‘sustainability icons’.
Joining Pierre on the panel will be Nina Garcia, currently the Editor-in-Chief at ELLE magazine, and probably best know for her role as fashion judge on the award-winning show Project Runway. A New York Times bestselling author, Nina is an elite authority on the industry.
Together with Jennifer Allison, VP of Sustainable Supply Chain at Dell, and Rebecca van Bergen of Nest, a New York City-based non-profit organization, the speakers will highlight the processes that have been put in place to ensure a positive impact on global supply chains, as well as new compliance programs and responsible sourcing practices, and ultimately discuss how all of these developments are communicated to, and dictated by the consumer.
