Earlier this week, Moda Operandi unveiled an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with celebrated Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz. The Latin-inspired designs feature elements of the designer’s most sought-after styles, including dramatic ruffles, bold silhouettes and shoulder-baring styles, but also a selection of swimwear.
Johanna Ortiz launched her eponymous label back in 2001, but it wasn’t until thirteen years later, when Moda Operandi featured her designs on their pioneering website, that her now familiar, hyper-feminine silhouette, was brought to a global audience.
In crafting this exclusive high-summer collection, Ortiz explained to wwd.com that she and her team “took lightweight elements like linens and cottons and combined them with richer fabrics and hand embroidery to craft our favorite silhouettes with exciting twists”. Indeed, browsing the collection, it’s clear to see how expectations for next summer’s wardrobe staples have been elevated to a whole new level.
