Their continued efforts to raise awareness of the need to produce and consume responsibly include mentoring the next generation of designers as part of the CFDA’s Lexus Fashion Initiative, and hosting such events as LA’s now annual pre-Oscar’s Sustainable Style Gala. The co-founders of the Carmen-backed company are also regular speakers at global fashion-led summits, and next month MAISON-DE-MODE.COM will be staging its very own summit in NYC.
The one-day Future of Fashion Summit is taking place on Wednesday, 5th June at the city’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Hosted by author and founder of HBFIT Hannah Bronfman, the inaugural event will include keynote discussions and Q&As, and features some of the industry’s most inspiring and notable figures.
Headlining the event is model and philanthropist Doutzen Kroes, Global Ambassador for Knot On My Planet, a non-profit that supports the Elephant Crisis Fund, who will be joined by model and activist Liya Kebede, Editor-in-Chief of Harper's Bazaar Glenda Bailey, Gabriela Hearst, Creative Consultant Julie Gilhart and Marie Claire’s Anne Fulenwider, among others. And the topics under discussion will include Championing Global Change, Building a Sustainable Brand and The Future of Fur.
