"I built my work from within, instead of satisfying a demand for sexualized and ostentatious clothing", the influential designer has said. Interestingly, Vogue's Andre Leon Talley, who was taped greeting guests upon arrival, posed a relevant question to a Valentino-clad Jennifer Lopez - "is it better to look sexy or look interesting?"
