ABOUT GREEN TEEN TEAM

Green Teen Team (GTT) was started in 2014, by building a habitat for endangered and threatened tortoises and turtles at Parco Natura Viva near Verona. This was the team’s first ‘hands on’ inquiry based learning project and they built their member base by running annual eco summer camps in Italy and in the UK. Over the following years GTT expanded to build satellite projects with other conservation organisations, schools and communities in different parts of the world, all through connections and introductions to be as sustainable as possible.

In 2018, GTT was recognised by the World Association of Zoos and Aquaria (WAZA) as an influential organisation of young people and Theodora was invited to speak at the annual conference in Bangkok.

GTT continues to empower young people by giving them the opportunities to make changes and enable advocacy rather than activism. Its aim is to give its founding members and new members the support and funding to realise their own projects.

The team continues to build and strengthen its satellite projects to serve the children and teens around the world and to enable the well-being of all young people, regardless of their background and encourage a sense of empowerment and agency for their future.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Theodora spent most of her childhood surrounded by nature between the Swiss Alps and Lake Garda. Theodora’s passion for conservation stems from her love for nature and instinct to protect what is important to the health of our planet. It was this passion and instinct that brought her to found Green Teen Team at the age of 9. Now 17, Theodora has run the charity, GTT, for nearly ten years and has changed the lives of many young people either through eco camps and workshops or satellite projects around the world. Theodora believes we should all understand the connections we live with and learn who to protect them. For example, biodiversity is really important, as the foundation of our wellbeing, and as we are beginning to understand, what happens one one side of the world will impact the other side, very quickly.

Theodora holds an offer to read Architecture at the University of Cambridge. Theodora is an avid dressage rider and represents her country Liechtenstein in international competitions. Alongside this she also loves skiing, reading and has an interest in art.
