If you've been watching the news and staying alert to current events on social media, you'll be aware of all the atrocities occurring in Venezuela at the moment. With Venezuelans suffering from high inflation, food shortages and soaring crime rates, plus a deepening corruption scandal, and the opposition has mounting near-daily anti-government protests since April 1, violence and poverty has been plaguing the country for the last 12 weeks, with the crisis worsening every day.
Carmen and fellow Venezuelans believe that this situation won't get better without external involvement and an internal group has devised a campaign, V de Vergüenza, to bring greater awareness to this uniquely dramatic situation.
The V symbol which stands for Venezuela and for vergüenza, which means 'shame' in Spanish, throws shame at the Venezuelan government's atrocities and commands freedom.
To show your solidarity, please get involved by posting a picture on Instagram with a V around your face, geo-tag it in the Palacio de Miraflores in Caracas, and include the hashtag #VdeVerguenza.
The official account, @vdeverguenza will be reposting the tagged posts, and we will also endeavour to do so on our accounts. Please join us as we command freedom for the people of Venezuela.
